2010 Fire Summit Purpose

The 2010 Fire Summit is the second annual conference of Southern California’s Regional Area Safety Taskforce (RAST). RAST is a partnership of local, state and federal entities working to facilitate regional collaborative fire shed management planning and local implementation for safe, sustainable communities. This year we are focusing on living with wildfire and planning for the future. RAST serves to:

*Unify the actions and strategies of numerous entities to meet shared goals of healthy ecosystems and safe communities on a regional level.
*Improve communication and coordination among local governments, educational institutions, nonprofits and state and federal agencies.
*Leverage information, staff and resources to develop and implement effective fire amd safety strategies.

The 2010 Fire Summit provides a venue for leaders, experts and organizations to work together to improve wildfire coordination in Southern California. Participants from other regions will have the opportunity to observe RAST’s one-of-a-kind model for multi-agency cooperation at all levels on a regional scale. With the Fire Summit, RAST also looks forward to hearing about and learning from the strategies developed for other areas.
